Welcome to the latest issue of Visible Language Journal. Issue 60.2 \u27a4<\/a> explores the relationships between visual communication, language, representation, and artificial intelligence, bringing together perspectives that examine how meaning is constructed, interpreted, and mediated through both human and computational processes. The issue opens with a reflection on originality and value in an era of generative AI, questioning the significance of writing, illustration, and design as creative practices become increasingly automated. It then turns to the role of visual communication in shaping social understanding through an investigation of graphic neutralization in children’s illustrations and its potential to reduce gender stereotyping, before examining the structural relationship between image and writing through a new taxonomy of illustrated letterforms.
